What items or mementos have you kept (in your toon’s pack or bank) and why?
I’ve been damn near ruthless in getting rid of crap that I don’t need, since bag space is money, friends, with 2 sets of gear for dual spec.
Except for one thing: The Ornate Spyglass.
When ArcaneTinkerTank and I were clueless noobs on our very first characters (me a priest and him a pally), he took up engineering and made me a spyglass. It was one of the first things he made that wasn’t a boring tube or a widget or whatever, and he was very excited about it. We’ve since changed servers and names in the process, but I still have that spyglass, which proudly notes in the tooltip that it was crafted by his original toon’s name.
That’s a cute story. I remember being super excited when I first learned to craft things.
My favorite memento is also something someone crafted for me, but I plan to make a post on it this week too, so I won’t elaborate yet.
I am, admittedly, a bit of a packrat, but some of my favorites:
Six demon bag (rofl, big trouble in little china)
Mr. Pinchy (My bank is his prison. He shall not elude me again)
Smoking heart of the mountain (It’s a matter of principal.. )
I still have the two mail pieces of undead-hunting gear that I got during the Scourge Event pre-Wrath. They were my first epics (had never been in an instance, let alone raiding guild), and I remember heading out there to the event locations solo and fighting to tag/kill the special mobs before actual groups and parties could, and also roaming around EPL finding rarespawn mobs for their drops. It was really memorable. I used that gear well into Wrath (till at least 75) so I’ll always keep it.
Easy. Piccolo of the Flaming Fire. Randomly dropped on my first Strat run. I have been annoying people ever since.
I keep alot of the wierd stuff around, like the Argent Horn, that calls a level 60 pally for a few seconds, the piccolo, super simian sphere, Just odds and ends like that.
I recently did a ruthless clean out of my bank and bags. I have a DPS set and about 4 variations of prot sets in my bags/bank.
However along with a few questy special things…I still have my Recruit’s Shirt.
I may not play on an RP server, but my toons each have their special quirks. Zurena’s is nostalgia.

well I couldn’t do it…it took me an hour just to decide on my mementos and I never held on to that spyglass for one hehe.
