Healer-Specific Raid and Group Frames

Note: You do not need to use the same mod for unit frames and party/raid frames. Many healers use pitbull/Xperl/Aguf for target etc and use Grid or Healbot for party/raid.

It’s highly configurable but also a pain to set up. It is capable of showing as much or as little information as you require. Definitely not ready out of the box. It has many plugins for whatever you need – but it may not be suitable for your needs without some plugins. Grid is unit frames ONLY. You will need to use mouseover macros or a click casting program in conjunction with it.

Recommended Grid Plugins for all healers

• Raid debuff – shows you who is affected by a raid boss’s debuff and may need healing (i.e. Ignis hot pocket). Doubles as a failmeter (you can see who is standing in the fire). (Guide)
• Grid Status Hots – even if you don’t have hots, this is nice because you can see how many total hots from all sources are on the target, and you know whether you need to bother healing the person or let the hots do their job.

Grid Plugins Zel Uses

• Boxes Layout
  • GridManaBars – shows mana bars.  You can choose to display non-mana (energy/rage).  I don’t display anything but mana.  Who cares about rage?
• Information Display(where and how)
  • Extra box positions
    • GridSideIndicators – extra boxes on the frame sides.
  • Text (for numerical countdowns etc)
    • GridIndicatorCornerText – You can put text (mostly countdowns) in the corners.
    • GridIndicatorSideText – you can put text (mostly countdowns) on the sides of the frame.
    • GridCooldownText – numerical cooldown for the center icon
  • Icons
    • GridIndicatorCornerIcons – sometimes you want an icon instead of a box.  This puts 2 icons in each corner.
    • GridIndicatorSideIcons – this puts one icon on each edge of the grid frame
• Status Tracking (what to track)
  • Raiding
    • GridStatusRaidDebuff – this shows raid statuses.  This is for use with the center icon.
    • GridStatusRaidIcons – you can add raid icons to your frames (guide).
    • GridStatusAtramedes and GridStatusChimaeron – for specific and annoying raid boss mechanics. (Guide)
  • Improved tracking of auras/buffs
    • GridStatusHots: – better hot tracking.  Can use with numerical countdowns. Includes non-hot tracking, suck as PW:S, Weakened Soul, and Prayer of Mending.
    • GridStatusAbsorbsMonitor (priest): Tracks your shield strength (PW:S and Divine Aegis). Can only be used with numerical display. (Guide)
    • GridStatusHealTrace - Flashes on targets where your aoe heals hit.  Helpful to know whether you’re hitting all intended targets (good for Chain Heal, Prayer of Healing, etc).
  • Range
  • • GridStatusPriestAOE (Priest).  Recommends target for POH and COH (Guide)
  • Cooldowns
    • GridStatusTankCooldowns – for tracking every cooldown, not just those cast by or cast on the tank.
  • Custom Tracking
    • GridStatusAurasExt – this is useful for tracking your buffs and other people’s buffs if you wish for them to be distinguished from each other.
  • People and Roles
    • GridStatusDungeonRole – to see who is assigned what role in a dungeon finder group or in a raid with the new raid role check interface in 4.0.
    • GridStatusMts - who is assigned main tank.
    • GridStatusSelf – so you know which box is you (shut up, it IS hard to tell)
  • Misc
    • GridStatusRes – this can show an incoming rez on a dead target.
    • GridStatusAFK – shows afk

Healbot

Healbot is ready “out of the box” and is easier to set up. It has click casting included. However, it is slightly less customizable and has poor hot tracking.

Lots of people like this mod for quickly alerting you to poisons/diseases etc and allowing you to dispel those debuffs with one click on the frame. It’s ready “out of the box” and does not need to be customized for each character. However, you can show all of these statuses within a raid frame such as Grid, and it’s difficult to look at 2 sets of frames while healing/decursing.
